How we check
Private Chef Guide explains how hiring a private chef works in New York City, the Hamptons and Miami. It is owned by the people behind NetChefs (see the disclosure).
Our rules
- Official sources only. Every fact that isn’t about NetChefs links to a government page: the NYC Health Department and NYC Business, the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance and Department of State, Florida’s Department of Business and Professional Regulation, Department of Revenue and Department of State, Miami-Dade County, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
- Dated. Each fact shows the date we last checked it.
- No guessing. If an official source doesn’t say something, we write “Not published” instead of estimating.
- NetChefs claims are labeled. Anything about NetChefs is marked “NetChefs (our own service)” and comes from netchefs.net or from its owners.
- No reviews or rankings. We don’t rate other chefs and we don’t publish testimonials.
- Math is shown. Weekly figures are annual BLS figures divided by 52; USDA household totals follow USDA’s own method.
