Sales tax on catering in New York

What to ask a Hamptons chef

Ask whether the chef is a family’s own employee or an independent business. An independent chef cooking in rented or owned summer houses can tell you which Suffolk County permit, if any, covers their work, and who on the team holds a food manager certificate.

If the chef cooks somewhere else and delivers, ask where the kitchen is and which permit covers it.
